Name
Creating An Abundant Classroom: Inclusivity Strategies for Students Facing Food Insecurity
Description

Attendees will learn about effective strategies for creating a constructive learning environment for students facing food insecurity. They will better understand the stressors facing food-insecure students and best practices for increasing classroom community for students across socioeconomic experiences. They will also learn strategies for increasing food access and reducing food stressors in learning environments, which will then help them develop universally designed classroom food and learning experiences. The session will be interactive with opportunities for participants to engage in group activities such as brainstorming and small group discussion. Individuals will also form classroom-focused practices such as situation inventory and proactively plan to put the principles learned into use. Each attendee will come away with a deeper understanding of the experiences facing food-insecure students and their more advantaged peers. They will develop practical steps to make school an easier environment for all students’ learning and community building.
