Rodney Augstin is a passionate ADST educator and advocate for hands-on, experiential learning. Over his career, he has taught across a wide range of trades and technologies, focusing on developing practical skills, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence through making and doing.

Rodney was part of the team that wrote the ADST curriculum, contributing extensive classroom experience and practical knowledge to its development. He also played a significant role in developing ADST learning environments, having designed, built, and set up three school-based shops from the ground up.

Currently, Rodney teaches Automotive, Woodworking, Construction, and Metalworking/Welding. His experience spans both the classroom and the shop, giving him a unique perspective on curriculum development, program design, shop organization, safety, and hands-on instruction.

As a co-leader of this conference, Rodney brings 34 years of practical experience, curriculum knowledge, and a strong commitment to supporting ADST educators. He is passionate about sharing ideas, resources, and real-world strategies that help teachers create engaging programs where students can develop meaningful skills for school, work, and life.
