We are so excited for another year of InspirED! Our committee has been working hard to get ready for this year’s convention and we look forward to connecting with convention attendees at our two day convention.

Back in the Spring, we announced that we would be at four different Lower-Mainland schools on November 7th, and then will meet together at Trinity Western University on November 8th with Jon Eckert as our keynote speaker and a variety of educators as our workshop leaders.

Below is the general information you'll want to know about our two day convention.

November 7th

Thank you to Langley Christian School, Richmond Christian School, The King’s School, and Vancouver Christian School for welcoming us into their spaces. Below are descriptions of what each school will be focusing on.

Registration for these visits will be limited due to limited capacity at each school. We will open registration for these sessions mid-October.

Langley Christian School (8:40 AM - 2:45 PM)

THRIVING IN OUR MISSION: USING OUR GIFTS WITH A PURPOSE

Langley Christian School’s Director of Learning Kevin Mirchandani invites educators to see how LCS is living out their mission and vision through a Keynote session with Kevin Mirchandani and then through classroom visits. School is in session so you will see first hand the amazing work LCS is doing. The goal will be to share how faith informs their purpose and practice.

A mini-cohort of 6 people can visit the Early Learning Center at LCS. Criminal record check documents are needed to be a part of this cohort.

Vancouver Christian School (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM)

THE EMOTIONAL ROOTS OF AGGRESSION AND ANXIETY: SUPPORTING CHANGE AND BUILDING RESILIENT KIDS with HANNAH BEACH

Faced with an epidemic of emotional health crises and behavioural problems, teachers are simply exhausted—it’s become harder than ever to lead and care for children and youth. This conversation has never been more important as we look at how we can create the conditions for change. Based on her best-selling book, Reclaiming Our Students: Why Children Are More Anxious, Aggressive, and Shut Down Than Ever—And What We Can Do About It, Hannah Beach will support educators with trauma-sensitive strategies for how to build, nurture, and protect the student-teacher relationship, even with the most difficult students. Hannah will address why children are displaying more challenging behaviours than ever, and what we can do to address these issues at their root.

Join Hannah for an engaging and powerful full-day workshop that will re-energize you as an educator and help you understand the vital importance of your leadership, needed now more than ever.

Richmond Christian School (8:30 AM - 3:30 PM)

LIVING INTO OUR UDL JOURNEY

Richmond Christian School is in their second year of a professional development journey to embed Universal Design Learning (UDL) as a school wide approach to inclusive education. You are invited to come and observe or join in some discussion as we continue to live into our K-12 learning target for the year, "We can empower all students, who are uniquely made in the image of God, in their learner agency."

If you are new to UDL and want to learn more, or if you are very familiar with UDL and would enjoy seeing how it is being lived into at another school, this may be valuable for you in your own professional learning.

In addition to UDL at RCS, we will be offering a librarian cohort meeting. If you are a librarian, this is a great opportunity for you to meet with other Christian school librarians!

The King’s School (8:30 AM - 2:30 PM)

CULTIVATING MEANINGFUL CURRICULUM

Hear and learn from a variety of The King’s School educators as they take you on a journey through how they have been cultivating meaningful curriculum. There will be opportunities to meet with educators from various departments and grade levels, including kindergarten through highschool.

November 8th
