Here is a sneak peak of some of our 2026 Community of Practice groups.
We will continue to add more as information becomes available.
"Engaging Biblical Concepts and Embodying Biblical Ethos in Classrooms and School Culture" with Julia Vanderveen
A Community of Practice for K-12 Educators and Administrators who would like to reflect on and learn more about practical approaches to extending biblical narratives into curriculum and beyond.
"Building Belonging in Early Childhood Classrooms (Ages 3–6)" with Sharon Low
A strong sense of belonging helps young learners thrive. When children feel seen, valued, and connected they are more likely to express themselves, explore creatively, and build meaningful relationships with others. Come learn practical strategies that you can implement in your classroom to:
- Foster strong relationships among learners through small group CREWS
- Create a warm classroom environment using colour, small spaces and photographs
- Support self-regulation with sensory tools, movement and rest
- Teach about belonging through stories, language choice, and activities
This workshop is designed for educators working with children aged 3–6 who want to create inclusive, relationship-centered learning environments. Participants will leave with simple, effective ideas to help every child feel connected and ready to learn.
"Created to Create: Purpose-Driven ADST" with Tim Van Hemert and Rod Augstin
A Community of Practice for educators looking to anchor their Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (ADST) programs in the biblical calling to know God and serve others. Participants will share practical strategies for overcoming program constraints and collaborate on designing hands-on experiences that shift students from consumers to creators.
"School Board and Administration Relationships: Working Together" with Bryan Young
Join fellow principals and heads of school for a collaborative time together over three sessions focused on fostering healthy and effective administrator-board relationships. These gatherings will provide an opportunity to share experiences, discuss challenges, and learn from one another’s approaches to working closely with our boards. Together, we will explore how to navigate evolving dynamics that come with shifts in board leadership, membership, and priorities while strengthening communication, trust, and shared vision.
"Service Learning in Schools" with Craig Ketchum
A Community of Practice for Educators and Administrators interested in gathering, sharing, and refining ideas around education for transformation of students and communities.
"Leading through Change and Complexity" with Kevin Mirchandani
Leading through Change and Complexity is a Community of Practice (CoP) for Christian school leaders seeking to lead adaptive change, harness the energy of resistance, and cultivate resilient, faithful school cultures through disruption. Grounded in my doctoral research with 28 senior leaders from BC K–12 Christian schools, this CoP integrates a theological understanding of leadership with insights from complex adaptive systems and network science. Participants bring a current change challenge from their own context to develop practices for engaging resistance, mobilizing others, and taking faithful next steps toward a kingdom vision for their learning community.
"Literacy: Using Mentor Texts to Support Instruction" with Susan Dykshoorn
Recognizing the value of literacy instruction and God's gift of literature to us, this CoP on Literacy: Using Mentor Texts to Support Instruction will focus on what mentor texts are, how they can effectively be modeled and used to enhance student learning, and what practical steps teachers can take to include them in lessons and units for focused and meaningful instruction.
"Belonging" with Mark deLeeuw
How do we help students feel like school is a place where they want to be? A place where they fit? As educators, how do we create community and intentionally deepen relationships? Together, we’ll reflect on our own sense of belonging and discuss practical strategies for increasing belonging in our schools.
